Cool Facts- stuff you didn't know about the "born gay" debate

1. According to a 2006 peer-reviewed study, a man's odds of being gay increase 33% with each older male sibling.
2. The first anti-homosexual law in the American colonies, The Buggery Act of Henry VIII, resulted in the 1624 hanging of Richard Cornish for having sex with a 29-year-old cabin boy.
3. Some researchers equate the traits of same-sex orientation with left-handedness.
4. In 1940, a Columbia University professor named Sandor Rado proposed the theory that homosexuality is a phobia of members of the opposite sex.
5. As of 1999, researchers had observed same-sex behavior in over 475 animal species.
6. Scientific studies have demonstrated physiological differences between heterosexual and homosexual people, such as eyeblink rates, inner ear structure, and hypothalamus size. Other studies have disputed these findings and other research on anatomical differences.

I'm not exactly sure there is a "gay gene", but I do believe that people are born gay. The reason I believe this, is because I don't think that anything special or significant can happen during someones life to make them become homosexual, I just believe that they are born with 'something' that makes them gay.

I think there are chemical influences that affect a persons sexuality at birth. But sexuality is more complex then genes. A person can lean towards homosexuality at birth, and still end up with a partner of the opposite sex. Likewise a person who is heterosexual can end up with a partner of the same sex. Although there are genes that influence hetero or homosexuality, but life can change a person as well. Either being experiences of just the environment of a person can affect sexual preference and orientation. I do not think gay people or straight people really make a conscious decision to prefer a certain gender. I do not think sexuality is set in stone, it can change throughout a person's life. I believe it is just who a person is, either how they ended up or were developed through life's trials.

Do you believe that children can be born gay?

~I don't think that there is a gay gene. I think that it is how they grow up/ the circumstances. They aren't gay when they are born, but maybe there is something that says that they are going to be gay.

I think that a person's sexuality can be affected by DNA and chemicals. However, I think sometimes people develop their own sexuality and characteristics through experiences and people's own views.

I feel that a human being's sexuality can not be determined upon their birth. Even though there are studies that have shown possible chances for genes to determine if someone is homosexual or not, i still believe humans make their decision during their own life experience. Many kids today don't even come to a choice of being gay until they are teenagers or fully grown.

I also feel that many researchers look way too much into certain researches which is very irrelevant.
